<p><strong>As part of the R&amp;S Records team and after a deep research, I had the opportunity to listen to awesome tracks from 2008 that I&#8217;d like to share with you. Enjoy (some of them are not released yet, unfortunately &#8211; but will soon). (I just made a final edition and included a couple of tracks that just couldn&#8217;t stay out!)</strong><em><strong> &#8211; Alain Patrick</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Autechre &#8211; Altibzz &#8211; WARP</strong> &#8211; A very intimate, multiple chords of ethereal timbres. Emotional, deep.Whoever said that Autechre couldn&#8217;t bring awesome art again was wrong.</p>
<p><strong>Bochum Welt &#8211; 8221SB &#8211; Rephlex</strong> &#8211; How could I leave outside this track from Gianluigi Di Constanzo&#8217;s 08 album? Listen and you will feel like inside a ship on the deep space&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.</p>
<p><strong>Harmonic 313 &#8211; Flashback &#8211; WARP </strong>- Funky, obscure and elegant atmosphere composes this track by Mark Pritchard with rhythmic acidic basslines and whisperings that reminds us the Summer Of Love era.</p>
<p><strong>Modern Process &#8211; Ambsix</strong> &#8211; Elegant approach based on a reduced elements perspective and well shaped timbres, from the beats to the pianos. Max Underson is a huge talent from Brazil.</p>
<p><strong>Clark &#8211; Ache Of The North &#8211; WARP</strong> &#8211; Clarke&#8217;s latest album atmosphere is really weirdo. Many of the tracks start on a certain mood and suddenly it changes unexpectedly. The atmosphere of this track is confusing, amorphous, tense and challenging.</p>
<p><strong>Mark Archer &#8211; Riser &#8211; Mutate</strong> &#8211; Altern8&#8217;s legend Mark Archer has been raised under a huge influence of different genres, but no one can deny that he is after all an Electronic Souler. Part of his new EP, &#8216;Riser&#8217; has that Sci-Fi Soul mood.</p>
<p><strong>Claro Intelecto &#8211; Operation &#8211; Modern Love</strong> &#8211; Believe me, this is another of those almost-impossible to pick just one up albums. The whole long play is a masterpiece, and you will prefer one or another depending on the mood you are.</p>
<p><strong>Bitstream &#8211; Tivoli &#8211; Touchin&#8217;Bass</strong> &#8211; Conners&#8217; Brain Electro approach on this one deserves the mention, and the result lies on this sonic mixture that can open your mind to new possibilities. As a matter of fact, the entire EP is excellent.</p>
<p><strong>B12 &#8211; Beyond Reason &#8211; B12</strong> &#8211; From B12&#8217;s new album, &#8216;Beyond Reason&#8217; is one of the most challenging pieces, for it brings you to new, unexpected atmospheres. Claro Intelecto is not to be underestimated. His music has many shapes, aspects, arrangements, atmospheres, but all of them have a signature.</p>
<p><strong>Vince Wats0n &#8211; Qualia (unreleased)</strong> &#8211; A deep shining on the intense listener&#8217;s Soul, Qualia&#8217;s based on those intense harmonies &amp; melodies that only Vince Watson know how to build. Simply a masterpiece.</p>
<p><strong>Francesco Tristano &#8211; The Melody (Balil Remix)</strong> &#8211; Ed Handley&#8217;s version of sycopated snares and aesthetic pianos is arguably the hottest on this single and I thank Steel Life for having called me the attention on it. Fully dancefloor!<br />
<strong><br />
Arne Weinberg &#8211; Defining Negative Spaces (unreleased)</strong> &#8211; Respect for this knight of Electronic Soul that once again brings the intense listener to the future and the emotional. For me, it&#8217;s the finest tune of his latest productions.<br />
<strong><br />
James Ruskin &#8211; Izzygan &#8211; Tresor</strong> &#8211; Everybody knows he&#8217;s a talent, though Ruskin&#8217;s latest album brings many different types of music and really worths the listening. &#8216;Izzygan&#8217; is obscure and brings dark moods, fragmented samples of vocals and complex beats. Very nice!</p>
<p><strong>Dynarec &#8211; Second Life Chronicles &#8211; Puzzlebox</strong> &#8211; Usually Dynarec would be reminded as an Electro act, but the deep techno of S.L.C. proves that they can also be versatile and aesthetic.</p>
<p><strong>Joris Voorn &#8211; The Deep</strong> &#8211; It&#8217;s really hard for me to accept that I can still be impressed by dancefloor tracks after the way most of Dance Music seem to be going through, but Joris Voorn really (!) impressed me on this one. A perfect club track with &#8216;that&#8217; emotional touch.</p>
<p><strong>Juan Atkins + Mad Mike &#8211; Spain (unreleased) &#8211; R&amp;S</strong> &#8211; Both are geniouses, the final result couldn&#8217;t be other than intense, profound, extremely well shaped form of Future-Soul dance music.<br />
<strong><br />
Sebbo &#8211; Watamu Beach (Moritz Von Oswald Rework)</strong> &#8211; Moritz Von Oswald is a giant from the realm of Music. His delay-mastery techniques and his unparalleled tech skills seems to multiply the potential of his talents. His rework is hypnotic, a key word that should be a main rule for all kinds of minimal music.<br />
<strong><br />
Vladislav Delay &#8211; Recovery IDea (Andy Stott Mix)</strong> &#8211; Andy Stott have been calling the experts&#8217; attention as a new talent of the current generations, and his remix for Delay&#8217;s track is a wild proof. Deep dubby atmospheres based on a huge sense of evolution means no other than quality.</p>
<p><strong>Syclops &#8211; The E Ticket</strong> &#8211; I won&#8217;t say that I liked all the tracks from &#8216;I&#8217;ve Got My Eye On You&#8217;, but &#8216;The E Ticket&#8217; has that improvising rhythmic spirit from Jazz and the sweet futuristic melodies from Tech-Soul.Thanks to the team of Hanna Sarkari, Maurice Fulton, Jukka Kantonen &amp; Sven Kortehisto.</p>
<p><strong>John Beltran &#8211; Clouds Pull (unreleased) &#8211; R&amp;S</strong> &#8211; When I first heard this track through R&amp;S team of consultants it was unfinished. They said that John was planning a song on top of it. The harmony of warm chords and mellow intervals is so intense that you just can&#8217;t stop listen to it. No shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful piece I&#8217;ve heard from him on the last years. It doesn&#8217;t need a song, John!</p>
<p><strong>Dave Angel &#8211; All That (unreleased) &#8211; R&amp;S</strong> &#8211; In 2008 Dave Angel proved that he is (as a composer) more than alive and kicking. His new unreleased album goes far from that Techno patterns we used to listen so many times and embraces deeper, downtempo, Broken Beats &amp; Future Jazz moods. &#8216;All That&#8217; is my favorite.</p>
<p><strong>D-Bridge &#8211; Blush Response</strong> &#8211; Choosing only one track from D-Bridge&#8217;s 2008 album was almost an impossible task, but after all I felt on this track that for me translates the strongest feelings for quality music for a Drum n Bass track.</p>

<p>Se você ainda não ouviu as <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/cds/0/0/57855.html">ReCompositions</a> do norte americano de Detroit Carl Craig e do berlinense Moritz Von Oswald para as obras-primas de Ravel e Mussorgsky, há chances de você as achar tão impressionantes quanto (ou até melhores) do que as originais. Eu não me atreveria a fazer tal declaração a respeito de &#8216;Quadros De Uma Exposição&#8217; (cuja orquestração de Ravel para a obra de Mussorgsky é antológica), ao contrário de &#8216;Bolero&#8217;. Boa audição.</p>

<p>Com o intuito de agregar valor e encantar os clientes, os núcleos de eventos, clubes, raves e festivais procuram se diferenciar. A prática, embora fundamental, não é novidade. São incontáveis os exemplos de noites históricas nos últimos anos em diversas cidades do Brasil com atrações dos mais diversos gêneros musicais: Laurent Garnier, Cut Chemist, Stacey Pullen, Doc Scott, Matthew Herbert Jazz Band, Tony Humphries, Timmy Regisford, Underground Resistance, DJ Pogo, LTJ Bukem são apenas alguns dos nomes que vêm à cabeça quando se trata de lembrar destas tão especiais noites. Mas como foi possível chegar a este patamar? Quem foi o responsável por isso?</p>
<p>Para se ter uma noite diferenciada, são necessários três pré-requisitos: iniciativa, ousadia e busca da informação. Em todas estas noites, estes três fatores estiveram presentes. As pessoas envolvidas tomaram a iniciativa de buscar atrações diferenciadas, acima da média &#8211; portanto, foram ousadas, porque procuraram por algo além da obviedade, e para isso, foi necessaria pesquisa musical.</p>
<p>Absolutamente nenhum destes artistas especiais, quer tenham se tornado standards, cult ou memoráveis, escaparam do fantasma da &#8216;primeira vez&#8217;. Explico: Stacey Pullen, Laurent Garnier, Timmy Regisford, Doc Scott, Cut Chemist ou quem quer que seja já foi atração inédita um dia e enfrentou o crivo da primeira apresentação, muitas vezes em situações em que a receptividade era uma incógnita. E antes que alguns se levantem em favor das &#8216;tendências internacionais&#8217; e de bandeiras como &#8216;minimal&#8217;, &#8216;electro-house&#8217; ou &#8216;maximal&#8217;, é necessário lembrar que a gama destes eventos diferenciados abrange um número considerável de gêneros musicais que não necessariamente obedece a essas &#8216;tendências&#8217; vindas de fora. É necessário lembrar também que a quantidade de pessoas que realmente possui babagem musical sólida o suficiente é bem pequena, e que portanto a grande maioria não faz a menor idéia do que significa cada um destes rótulos e tendências.</p>
<p>Para a maioria, são apenas termos impressionáveis, portanto, assim como algum dia alguém resolveu trazer Dorfmeister independente do que as &#8216;tendências&#8217; diziam, o mesmo vale para dezenas de outros casos, a exemplo do live do Underground Resistance em um período em que imperam o maximal e o minimal, vertentes musicais bem diferentes daquela proposta nas obras do UR. E assim por diante, sao infinitos os exemplos.</p>
<p>A questão é: quem decide afinal? O promoter muito bem informado que sugere ao dono do evento ou do clube? Ou a direção dos mesmos? Ou será que parte do agente que tem a iniciativa de sugerir nomes diferentes para uma determinada tour? Ou seria o público final que pede pelo produto? Ou o artista que resolve entrar em contato com alguém daqui? Quem é a peça fundamental nesta engrenagem?</p>
<p>A resposta é simples: quem decide é você, independente de qual funçao você ocupa. Desde que você se envolva, tenha iniciativa para pesquisar, buscar a informação e a ousadia de sugerir nomes, você poderá ser decisivo na escolha. É certo que muitas vezes você não terá êxito, mas se realmente for do seu interesse, terá grandes chances de conseguir ver o seu sonho de poder ouvir as suas atrações prediletas se tornar realidade &#8211; pelo menos em alguns casos. Isso independente do que você faz.</p>
<p>Se você for um ouvinte pertencente ao público final, poderá se tornar alguém influente a ponto de ser responsável pela vinda de alguma atração diferenciada. Afinal, se você paga para entrar no evento, é você quem faz a engrenagem do showbiz girar, e se você pesquisa, terá dois motivos para ser respeitado por quem produz e promove os eventos. Casos assim já aconteceram várias vezes. Muitos dos nomes que se apresentaram em lugares como Lov.e, D-Edge, Vegas, entre tantos outros clubes e eventos, partiram de sugestões do público frequentador. Mas será que é só o público que tem o poder de decidir?</p>
<p>Se você for um promoter ou um produtor de eventos, você também tem um grande poder nas mãos. O público frequentador dos teus eventos prestará atenção especial no que você diz e no que faz, portanto, você tem todo interesse em pesquisar e sugerir atrações diferenciadas. E quanto mais você pesquisar, mais poderá sugerir nomes interessantes e convencer a equipe de produtores e donos de clubes a respeito, o que mostra a importância que tem a sua participação. Lembrar de grandes promoters e das suas contribuições neste sentido não é nada difícil, o que prova a veracidade do raciocínio.</p>
<p>Por outro lado, você pode estar do outro lado da cadeia  e ser um agente, booker ou artist manager. Se você acha que é refém da opinião formada e das tendências, está totalmente enganado. Todas as novidades em termos de repertório e de proposta musical tiveram participação fundamental de um agente no processo. Muitas vezes, este agente sugeriu algo que a primeira vista parecia totalmente improvável. Várias das atrações especiais que você viu na sua vida só foram possíveis graças às ações e iniciativas dos agentes, ao contrário do que os prognósticos, mídias e tendências apontavam. Portanto, o agente bem informado, ousado e dono de iniciativa própria também tem plenos poderes, assim como as outras partes.</p>
<p>A pior coisa que você pode fazer neste caso, independente de qual seja a sua função, é não acreditar. Muitas oportunidades se perdem porque as pessoas subestimam a sua própria capacidade de influênciar e contribuir. Já outras, sabendo que não é impossível, vão lá e fazem acontecer. Quem tem o mérito de tornar possíveis estes eventos diferenciados então? Quem tem o mérito é você. É só lutar por ele. Mas antes disso, é necessário deixar de lado o pessimismo e acreditar que é possível&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.</p>

<p>Mais de uma década antes do Kraftwerk sequer existir, Dick Raaijmakers, também conhecido sob a alcunha de <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Kid+Baltan">Kid Baltan</a> (pseudônimo criado graças à pronuncia de seu nome Dick e do seu local de trabalho Natlab de trás pra frente) foi, ao lado de seu parceiro Tom Dissevelt, autor de obras primas do início da Música Eletrônica moderna.</p>
<p>Após estudar piano no Conservatório Real de Den Haag, Holanda (mesma cidade de Legowelt, Orgue Electronique e dos labels Bunker e Crème Organization), Dick Raaijmakers tornou-se compositor e professor de Música Eletrônica foi contratado pela gigante Philips na área de Eletroacústica no período 1954-1960, justamento o das suas mais brilhantes composições.</p>
<p>Entre 1957 e 1958, o duo Baltan e Dissevelt, posteriormente batizado de ElectroSoniks, compôs obras-primas da música eletrônica muito além de seu tempo que entraram para a posteridade, entre as quais <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSoAzONw-a4">&#8216;Song Of The Second Moon</a>&#8216; e &#8216;<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OlvZ7b33Es">Sonik Re-Entry</a>&#8216;.<br />
Antes mesmo do homem conseguir viajar no Espaço ou aterrisar na Lua, o majestoso <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSoAzONw-a4">&#8216;Song Of The Second Moon</a>&#8216; conseguiu capturar com excelência a atmosfera espacial e a estética que tempos após seria tão associada à Ficção Científica. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSoAzONw-a4">&#8216;Song Of The Second Moon</a>&#8216; tornou-se a marca registrada da música do futuro, reconhecida como &#8216;Música Eletrônica&#8217;.</p>
<p>Na capa do single de sete polegadas lançado pela Philips lia-se &#8216;Electronic Popular Music&#8217; (música eletrônica popular) e havia um texto no dorso a respeito das novas possibilidades de expressão advindas com a música eletrônica, assim como a independência entre o espírito com o qual se compõe e ose meios utilizados para isso, dando margem a uma leitura mais ampla e dinâmica do que era a Música Eletrônica. <p>Entre suas principais obras, Cosey foi membra do revolucionário projeto artístico Coum Transmissions (fortemente influenciada pelo Movimento Fluxus), foi membra fundadora do <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Throbbing+Gristle">Throbbing Gristle</a> cuja idéia principal era fazer uso da tecnologia e de equipamentos eletrônicos pra criar a anti-música, algo bastante ousado para uma banda dos anos setenta.</p>

<p>Até que, uma bela noite, graças à sugestão de um amigo, montei meu <a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=668789812#/profile.php?id=742143510">profile</a>. Tá, eu sei que isso não é muito novidade, já vem se alastrando há um bom tempo. O que impressiona é que, apesar de ser mais uma &#8216;rede de relacionamentos&#8217;, inscreveram-se pessoas como o lendário tecladista e produtor <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/John+Robie">John Robie</a>, o pioneiro da House Music <a href="http://www.myspace.com/housemusicgodfather">Marshall Jefferson</a>, além de <a href="http://www.myspace.com/kerrichandler">Kerri Chandler</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/therealdannyltjbukem">LTJ Bukem</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/metalheadzltd">Goldie</a>, <a href="http://www.secretoperations.com/">Seba</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/kennylarkin">Kenny Larkin</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/derrickmay">Derrick May</a> e cia. ltda.</p>

<p>Não que isso seja suficiente para o que quer que seja. Mas o fato é que, em meio a tantos features que não passam de bobagenzinhas, alguns proporcionam links e vizualisações interessantes, como por exemplo linkar Last FM, MySpace, DJ Chart ou inserir vídeos do Youtube no seu profile.</p>
<p>Dizem que lá fora ele veio para ficar, e hoje tem a importância que deveria ter o Orkut. Há, contudo, pelo menos um aspecto que funciona bem ali que nunca funcionou direito no Orkut: as comunidades. Aliás, nem o MySpace conseguiu resultado nessa área. Só a que diz respeito do planeta Plutão na área de ciências conta com mais de um milhão e duzentos mil inscritos.</p>
<p>Se você tem interesse em uma rede de relacionamentos com opções interessantes, aventure-se.</p>
